USA: Since 2002, the first prisoner held in Guantanamo has been released. The US Department of Defense announced that a man named Ridah Bin Saleh al-Yazidi, who was being held at the Guantanamo Bay prison, has been repatriated to his country. Human rights groups reported that Mr. Yazidi was among those previously detained in January 2002.
According to the New York Times, Yazidi has never been charged with any crime and was even deported more than a decade ago. The man was allowed to be deported, but it never happened.
International organizations such as Human Rights Watch and Cage International have said that Yazidi has been detained at Guantanamo Bay since it was first established in 2002.
The Pentagon did not say whether the man was released after pleading guilty or for other reasons. Since 2002, Guantanamo Bay has been used to detain and torture individuals the United States considers terrorists who threaten its security. This prison was built during the Bush administration of the USA to detain suspects and prosecute war crimes.
Meanwhile, public debate continues over the length of time prisoners spend in this prison without a crime and the methods used to interrogate and extract information from people, including extracting teeth while they are still alive and subjecting them to extreme pain.
People consider being released from that prison to be a bad place due to the conditions there, including torture, abuse, and other life-threatening conditions.
Human rights organizations are trying to appeal to people imprisoned in this prison, but people are not listening.
People welcomed the release of this prisoner, saying that at least human rights are beginning to be respected.
The USA, as the strongest country in the world, tried to protect itself about its security; that is why it tried to create a hash prison for those who had misunderstood with them.
