The U.S. Navy has mistaken the fighter jets of its Air Force counterparts for being desperate.
The US Navy in the Red Sea shot down a US Air Force F/A-18 fighter jet that it believed belonged to the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
This flight was announced in the night of this Sunday, in the airstrikes of the US forces in the area of Sanaa in Yemen, which is suspected to be the storage of bombs of the Houthi fighters and to destroy the bases.
Two pilots on the plane managed to survive but one of them sustained minor injuries. It was after another attack that the US military had announced a few minutes ago that it was successful.
The U.S. Navy and Air Force have been conducting security operations in the Red Sea to facilitate the flow of goods through the sea and the Gulf of Aden, where the Houthi rebels are often harbored.
Russia Television wrote that the soldiers always claimed that they were able to predict the bombings by the Houthi planes, and the F/A-18 was the first US manned aircraft to be shot down since the operation began.
Trump wants NATO countries to increase their contributions
Donald Trump’s office has informed the leaders of the NATO member states that in January he will ask them to increase the amount invested in security operations, providing 5% of their countries’ budgets.
Currently, only 23 of the 32 NATO member states are implementing the goal of spending 2% of their GDP on security.
In addition, Trump seems to have changed his mind because he has now announced that he wants to continue providing military aid to Ukraine, but he is also pushing to enter into ceasefire talks with Russia.
However, he still insists on Ukraine not joining NATO.
Sources show that some of the NATO member countries are in talks to see how the money they give from 2% of their budget to 3%, although many are still worried about the impact it would bring to the economy of their countries.
