Three Rwandan players are set to start playing for German club Bayern Munich. Rwandan children traveled to Germany to undergo a trial period as part of the Bayern Munich-Rwanda ‘Visit Rwanda’ project, with three of them having the opportunity to continue their studies with Bayern Munich in their youth.
Last year, in 2023, Rwanda, through the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), signed an agreement with Bayern Munich, one of the biggest clubs in Europe, to promote Rwandan tourism through advertising at its Allianz Arena stadium.
Not only that, but part of the agreement was that the club had to collaborate with the Ministry of Sports and the Rwandan Football Association to establish a football academy in Rwanda and organize training courses for coaches in Rwanda to support the development of this sport among boys and girls in the country. In recent days, some of the young players in this partnership have gone to try their luck to see if this club will take them into their own hands.
So far, he has hired three of them and even given them uniforms to wear when they return from their break, so they can start helping him in UEFA Youth League matches. Nelson Irumva was given number 16 and played for Akagera FC, David Okoce was given number 11 and played for Gorilla FC, and Barthazar Ndayishimiye was given number 17 and was recruited from The Winners in Muhanga district.
The Visit Rwanda project generates significant revenue for Rwanda through its tourism development program.
Rwanda collaborates with major clubs including Arsenal from England, PSG from France and FC Bayern Munich from Germany.
This project of visit Rwanda is very successful and productive according to the report given by RDB.
