Syrian opposition rebels have announced that they have captured the capital Damascus, and that President Bashar al-Assad has fled the country.

Abu Mohammed, the leader of the rebels called Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, (HTS) announced that all institutions will continue to work under the leadership of the current Prime Minister, until there is a transfer of power.

This war is one of the fastest since not two weeks ago these rebels took their weapons from the North of the country, determined to seize power and remove Assad who had been in power for 24 years.

As soon as these rebels took power this Sunday, they went on national television, announcing that the country has been liberated and all the prisoners have been released.

Aljazeera reported that it would not be difficult for these rebels to enter the capital, as Assad’s soldiers appeared to be tired of the war, and they were being mistreated and not being paid.

Russia and Iran are among the countries that supported Assad and continued to fight to keep him from power, while Turkey, the United States of America and European countries were on the side of those who oppose Assad.
