President Paul Kagame said that China’s behavior prioritizes beneficial interactions between it and other countries, which are very important in the development of countries in the southern half of the world, mainly developing countries.
President Kagame said this when he was at the 22nd meeting of the Doha Forum, which is being held in Doha, Qatar, where he returned to the behavior of advanced countries, mainly those in the northern part of the world (global north), towards countries that are still on the way of development is dominated by the global south.
President Kagame said that the development of China is a good thing, especially because it is coming together with other countries.
He said, “The development of China is a good thing because it is developing together with other countries [with whom it works].
The way China does business is very important, the way it works with other countries, especially African countries, is a good thing.
” The Head of State gave an example of Rwanda’s trade with China, saying that its value has increased significantly. He said, “In Rwanda, the value of the trade we had with China increased from $35 million to $150 million.
That in itself means the result of the measures put in place. I think the same has happened to other African countries with large economies. than Rwanda, it has gained more.
That is a good thing.” President Kagame explained that China’s relationship does not have any follow-up as it is done with other countries. He said that China is cooperating with Rwanda in building various infrastructures including power plants, hospitals and other projects. The President said that developing countries, mainly those in the southern part of the world, have a major role in the development process.
He said, “We need to realize that there is more that we can do to benefit ourselves like those in developing countries, but we need to work together, we need to work together, and then we can move around through cooperation between developing countries and developing countries. advanced countries.
Only advanced countries do not support cooperation that makes everyone feel that they are benefiting from it.” There are often accusations that China is using its power to jeopardize the interests of other developing countries, accusing them of giving them loans they will not be able to repay, thereby taking away their wealth.
China has also often been accused of doing business without transparency, but more often than not you find these statements coming from leaders or other analysts in countries in the Northern Hemisphere, which are predominantly developed countries. However, President Kagame said that based on history, it is difficult to confirm that the interaction between China and other countries will not benefit them, as many of the developed countries often say.
He said, “There is nothing in history that shows us that China is abusing its power. Rather, we benefit from cooperation and a willingness to bring everyone to the negotiating table, where everyone feels they can benefit from those negotiations.”
These days, there is a lot of competition at the international level, especially between the United States of America and China, where these countries are competing at different levels.
Developing countries are often forced to take sides, whether it be the US or China, which affects their economies. The head of state said that the rivalry between major countries will continue, however he emphasized that the way China is using in this rivalry is the right one.
He said, “We cannot ignore the existing resistance, and the fact that China is involved, I think it shows the right way to deal with it. The reduction of the abuse of power of the developing countries is very important, and China is involved in it in different ways.” This year’s conference was attended by other world leaders, leaders of international organizations, leaders of private companies, non-governmental organizations and other international stakeholders.
This year’s theme focuses on how to create innovative solutions to global challenges, including security, equality and sustainable development. President Kagame participated in a discussion on China’s role in the development of developing countries, called ‘China’s Role in a Rising Global South: Redefining the Future World Order.’ and the ‘Center for China and Globalization.’
Other participants included the new President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, the Prime Minister of Barbados, and Mia Amor Mottley.
