Pope Francis has called for an end to the war between Ukraine and Russia. On Wednesday, the head of the world’s Catholic Church, Pope Francis, called for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia aimed at ending the war that erupted after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

In his Christmas message, the Pope said that “courage is needed to open dialogue to achieve a just and lasting peace between the two sides.”

The Pope made this announcement after a major Russian attack that day on Ukrainian power plants, which Ukraine says were hit by at least 184 missiles fired by drones.

Earlier this year, the Ukrainian government strongly rejected the pope’s request for dialogue with the Kyiv government to end the conflict.

Speaking to thousands gathered in St. Peter’s Square, the 88-year-old Pope Francis said, “Let the sound of weapons be silenced in war-torn Ukraine and elsewhere.” “I call on every individual and on all peoples of all nations … to pool their hope in silencing the voices of arms and overcoming divisions in this region,” he said.

Reiterating his Christmas message last year, Pope Francis also called for a halt to the fighting in Gaza and the release of hostages held by Hamas.

“I think of Christian communities in Israel and Palestine, especially in Gaza, where humanity no longer exists,” he said.

The Pope also called for the opening of peace dialogue forums. The Gaza war began after Hamas rulers in the region attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, and gunmen killed about 1,200 people, and another 251 were taken hostage in Gaza.

Many peaple are losing lives due to fight between those two countries especially soldiers on both sides and civilian who migrate from their areas to another .

Pop wishes that this war can be ended and stopped peacefully through whatever process possible.

So let’s wait his request will be accepted by both sides.
