This Sunday, December 29, Miss Rwanda 2020, Nishimwe Naomie, got married to an Ethiopian named Michael Tesfay in a ceremony that combined a proposal and a wedding that took place at the Intare Conference Arena, located in the Gasabo district.

They performed the final rites of marriage after becoming husband and wife in the eyes of the law on Friday, December 27, after getting engaged in one of the sectors of Kigali city.

The couple looked very happy at the colorful ceremony that was attended by many celebrities in the entertainment industry of a thousand hills, including Miss Rwanda 2021, Divine Muheto, who was also their guest, Miss Rwanda 2016, Jolly Mutesi, several famous basketball players such as Adonis Filer and Axel Mpoyo, and Sherrie Silver.

They are also expected to make a vow before God, which took place at the Women Foundation Ministries church in Kimihurura before returning to the Intare Conference Arena, where there will be a reception.  Nishimwe confessed to Tesfay that they were in love in January 2024 after two years of dating.

They were first reported to be dating in early 2022 before making their relationship public via social media a few months later, where they began posting candid photos of themselves accompanied by loving captions.

Naomie is the fourth openly married woman to win the Miss Rwanda title since 2009, after Grace Bahati, Aurore Mutesi Kayibanda, and Elsa Iradukunda, who got engaged to former Miss Rwanda pageant organizer Dieudonné Ishimwe, better known as Prince Kid.

Prince Kid is currently facing charges of soliciting and other related offenses against some of the girls in the competition, including Naomie, who got married and was the trigger for the expulsion of Miss Elisa’s assistant when she was among the organizers of this beauty pageant, which was later suspended, and even those who say it was completely canceled would not be far from the truth after it was found that the criteria used to select a beauty pageant contestant in the country were contrary to the allegations, including explicit solicitation.
