The coach assigned to coach the Rwanda national team for the CHAN, Jimmy Mulisa, has revealed that the reason he did not use Rayon Sports youngster Niyonzima Olivier ‘Sefu’ was because of the lack of discipline he showed.

This young man is one of the most experienced players in the national team, so it came as a surprise when the players were released by coach Jimmy Mulisa, this young man also appeared and his absence was evident in both games [First and second].

Later, there were additions to the squad due to injury problems, including Byiringiro Gilbert (Kagege) and Ngabonziza Pacifique of Police FC, but this youngster was not considered and instead, opportunities were given to Nkurunziza Félicien and Iradukunda Simeon.

After the match in which the Rwandan national team defeated South Sudan by two goals to one (2-1), coach Jimmy spoke about the reason for all this, saying: “The boss knows, we discussed it, it was a polite question, may be the person asking can answer you.”

The Rwanda national team was eliminated despite defeating a disappointing South Sudanese team, where they would normally have progressed because in the first match they had lost three goals to two (3-2). Those two goals, when added to the two from Amahoro Stadium made it four goals and tied with South Sudan, with Rwanda winning on away goals.

However, as coach Jimmy recalled, there was little chance that they would emerge as the clear losers because some teams withdrew from the competition.

But this is not a great opportunity, especially since there are many teams from the same region as these teams that have withdrawn from this African Cup of Nations (CHAN) 2025, which will be held in three countries, namely Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
