The Ensemble pour la Republique party of politician Moïse Katumbi, who is opposed to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has announced that it is confident of winning the presidential elections scheduled for 2028.

The deputy director of Ensemble in Tshopo province, Madeleine Kisembo, announced that Katumbi’s defeat in the presidential elections held in December 2023 was due to the fact that the Electoral Commission had declared contrary to the votes of the people.

Kisembo explained that even though their party did not win the Presidential election, it got more seats in the Parliament; at the national and provincial levels.

This politician pointed out that the seats Ensemble has in Parliament gives them the confidence that in 2028 they will replace President Tshisekedi in power, through the democratic process.

He said, “The first thing is that we will go to power in the country based on democracy, respecting the Constitution and other laws of the RDC. We aim to contribute to strengthening the principle of democracy in our country.”

In the last presidential election in December 2023, Katumbi got 18.32% of the votes, while President Félix Tshisekedi won with 73.47% of the votes.
