The 11 players of Amavubi were first on the field; Hakizimana Adolphe, Muhire Kevin, Ruboneka Bosco, Mugisha Didier, Serumogo Ally, Mugisha Gilbert, Niyigena Clement, Kanamugire Roger, Niyomugabo Claude, Tuyisenge Arsene and Nsabimana Aimable.
The game started with Rwanda’s national team, Amavubi, moving well and attacking. In the 6th minute, Tuyisenge Arsene snatched the ball from the South Sudanese defenders and unleashed a shot that could only have had an impact on the goalkeeper and went into the corner but failed to do so.
Amavubi continued to attack hard, with Mugisha Gilbert trying to put the ball in the net, but it proved to be a problem.
In the 27th minute, South Sudan’s national team had their first real chance in front of goal with a ball coming from a corner kick and Benjamin Laku Lotelek headed it in, but the ball went just wide of the goal.
In the 34th minute, Amavubi opened the scoring with a powerful shot from Tuyisenge Arsene that touched Mugisha Didier and South Sudanese goalkeeper Juma Jenaro Awad Amuk fought back, only for it to go into the net.
After opening the scoring, the Rwandan national team continued to press forward and towards the end of the first half, they were awarded a penalty after a pass from Niyomugabo Claude was intercepted by South Sudanese defender Joseph Malish.It was attacked by captain Muhire Kevin but the goalkeeper saved it.
The second half began with Amavubi coach Jimmy Mulisa making changes on the pitch, replacing Mugisha Didier with Mbonymwami Taiba.
As the Rwandan national team was playing in the second half where it was seen that they were still hungry for goals, in the 55th minute Muhire Kevin came to correct the mistakes he had made by scoring a penalty and scoring the second goal from a ball that was passed to him by the South Sudanese defender.
The Amavubi continued to press forward and were close to scoring a third goal in the 81st minute when South Sudan came to the rescue with a first goal scored by David Sebith.
After South Sudan opened the scoring, the Lions’ players seemed to be out of the game, forcing them to continue to press for an equalizer.
The match ended with Amavubi defeating South Sudan 2-1. Rwanda’s national team had lost the first match to South Sudan 3-2 and was already eliminated from the 2024 CHAN after Sudan won its two matches against Ethiopia, where it was eliminated from the five-team competition.
