In his speech on the state of the country this year, President Félix Tshisekedi of DR Congo said that his country continues to face the provocations of Rwanda and M23 and that they believe in military strength.

President Félix Tshisekedi of DR Congo said that he especially thanks the soldiers of Congo, Wazalendo, and the troops of friendly countries who fell in battle and helped this country defend its sovereignty.

In his speech, in front of the members of the Assembly, he once again focused on Rwanda, saying that it continues to provoke.

“Even though we have achieved a lot in different areas, the issue of security is still a big challenge for us,” he said.

He continued, “Our country has been facing insurgent groups for a long time, including the provocations of the Rwandan army and M23 who threaten the security, development of the country, and the well-being of the people.”

Tshisekedi said that those he called “enemies of the country” continued to occupy parts of Masisi, Rutshuru, Nyirangogo, Lubero and Walikale territories of North Kivu Province. He says this has forced nearly seven million people from their homes.

In his speech, Tshisekedi praised the efforts of President João Lourenço of Angola as a mediator in seeking peace in eastern DR Congo, expressing his hope for a lasting solution through military forces.

He said, “Reforms and strengthening of the military started last year and continue this year, will make our army more productive in the war. I am confident that this process will restore peace and protect the sovereignty of our country.”

This Congolese ruler at different times continued to point on Rwanda as the cause of struggles in Eastern Congo.

There have only been discussions aimed at bringing things back to normal but they will not yield anything.

It is expected that on December 15 this year, Tshisekedi and President Kagame will hold face-to-face talks, which are expected to provide a solution for lasting peace and stop blaming each other between the two countries.
